This thing works great, installed a different model starter a few years back on my wife’s old truck and was a nightmare, this thing is truly plug and play and easy to install. I will be getting another one for my truck soon.

I don’t write many reviews, but this one warrants a review: I installed this Start-X Remote Starter for Tacoma on a 2015 Toyota Tacoma and everything was relatively easy to install after watching the Start-X installation video. I thought the kit I ordered had the connector for the door locks, but it was a single wire for installing into the factory plug. Not difficult to patch in and everything worked as advertised as soon as I programmed the remote. Total installation took about an hour including removing and reinstalling the dash panels. I am exceptionally impressed with the long range transmission this unit has, expecting a couple of hundred feet, but the range is much further. I placed the antenna in the top drivers side of the front windshield and tested yesterday on an exceptionally cold day from my office inside a warehouse where my truck was parked about 500 feet away from the building. Not expecting it to work through the concrete walls and over a long distance; but wanted to test the transmission distance. I was quite surprised to get out to my truck and it was running. I would have thought this to be impossible at that distance and through concrete walls for a wireless transmitter, so I tested it again under the same conditions today and it started. Not sure why, but it definitely works over a long distance. I would highly remommend this product as an aftermarket remote starter for a Tacoma.

Streamlined and idiot proof installation, took all of 30 mins to cleanly install. I had a programming issue that was solved with a quick email exchange with the company which was solved with an extra splice in my setup. Perfect full function and longer range than my factory fob. Should’ve got this sooner

Installed easily well worth the money

At first it worked fine for the most part until all of a sudden the truck stopped starting, cranks fine, battery and alternator both test good. I searched on google for “Tacoma x start problems” and you’ll find many people talking about the same issues. I cut it out yesterday and only time will tell if I need to replace my BCM/ECM. What a waste of time, money, and energy.

2014 Tacoma -Works as expected. The instructions however could be improved a lot, luckily there are lots of videos on YouTube to help.As far as functionality I use it daily without issue

I’ve installed many remote car starters, this has got to be one of the worst. The programing did not work, instructions Probably wrong, never had a green program light, tech support never answered the phone after 30 minutes of being on hold.

I felt compelled to write this review after reading other reviews about how poor the installation instructions were. I felt the instructions were adequate but could have been better. They were good enough that I never had to contact Start-X for installation on my 2013 Tacoma. The door lock/unlock wires were difficult to locate deep inside the driver’s side kick panel, but they were exactly where the instructions said they were. Do yourself a favor and get some of your favorite 18-22AWG wire splice connectors to make the job easier.Range on the transmitter is very good and I’m pleased with the Start-X remote starter.

I just finished the install. Taking the dash apart was the hardest part, and that was actually fairly easy. Installing the unit is very easy. Programming after the install was time consuming. You need to follow the instructions to the letter, and if it isn’t working, unplug everything from the module and start over (easy to do, it is only three plugs on the module. I did wire in the door lock wires, but when connected nothing would work. When I unplugged it from the module, everything worked fine. This feature is so that the locks can be controlled with the remote starter fob, not working is not critical. The factory fob still locks and unlocks the truck. Start to finish (including programming) was about 2.5 hours. Overall, the price was right, the install was easy, the programming a bit of a PIA, but you just need to stick with it. I love that my old Tacoma now has remote start, without breaking the bank!

This stated very clearly on the box for a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. I paid my mechanic 100 bucks to install. It turns out after customer service this wasn’t even compatible with my truck. False advertising I’d say, and I spent 100 bucks to my mechanic for nothing.
