Cliffsnotes: This fuel pump fixed hard starting and constant sputtering/dying of a 2017 RZR 170. I needed a small hose clamp to connect the hose to the pump after cutting the original crimp clamp off and also had to unsolder the connectors that were on the original pump.Just installed on my nephew’s 2017 RZR 170. His family lives on a horse and cattle ranch where he rides it daily. I don’t know how many hours/miles it has but I would bet it is one of the higher ones in the nation. And they have not been easy hours. Mud holes, woods, long gravel roads etc. He terrorizes the whole property with it. That being said we have had a few problems with the rzr. The first issue was with it dying when going through deep water or mud. I diagnosed it to the ignition coil using a water hose. A few weeks later he reported hard starting and sputtering. This issue got worse as time went on to a point where it would barely run. I drained the fuel out of it and put new fuel in it as well as an oil change, rear brake, and air filter. With the new fuel it ran a bit better but still had a little trouble starting. I sent it back to him with a semi clean bill of health, I put a heavy dose of sea foam in the tank hoping that would clear up the starting. He ran it for a month or so and the sputtering came back with a vengeance. It would start but would not stay running. No throttle position would keep it running. I bought an online service manual and tested ever component I could to make sure it’s resistance was in spec. Everything tested good. I wasn’t able to properly test the fuel pump due to not having a fuel pressure gauge for it. Decided to try this fuel pump, thought it was worth a shot for $80. Well what do you know. New fuel pump and it is running like a dream. Like others have said I did have to unsolder the old fuel pump off as well as use a small hose clamp for the place of the crimp on clamp. He is so excited! And so am I! He’s 10 and I want him to keep thinking his Uncle T can fix anything.

Plug and play Baby! 2009 YFZ450R and I plugged it in and stuck it back into the fuel tank, plugged in the wire harness and turned the key… Fuel everywhere! If you don’t know that’s a good thing then “Put the mouse down and step away from the computer.” Take it in to your local Yamaha dealer service department. For the men out there who know… This is the right pump you need. Check the date of this post. I will edit if it dies on me otherwise you know it’s gettin ridden hard and put away wet!

Over the past year I have noticed my sons Polaris RZR 170 was getting harder to start and loosing power. Eventually it had lost all power and would hardly run. It seemed to be a fuel issue.I just installed the new fuel pump and it is back to like new. It starts right up and has its power back. Easy to install and works great.

Installed this as a replacement for a Polaris atv. OEM part is almost $500 so I figured I would try this first. Installed it and ATV ran great. But, a few months later it won’t crank at all. Took it back apart to find this pump had completely deteriorated and won’t pump any fuel.

I am normally a very staunch advocate of “OEM PARTS ONLY” on ATV’s. I’ve seen far too many fried ECU’s on ATV’s from cheap aftermarket voltage regulators, angle sensors, and other cheap bits. That said, I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews on the Quantum pumps on the boards, and with the OEM pump being $425, I figured I’d give the Quantum a try. It was easy to install in the factory pump housing assembly, and my kid’s RZR 170 started right up and has much better throttle response and runs better than it has in years. The lifetime warranty on these makes it a no brainer. Very pleased with this one!
