I’m an older seasoned automotive technician, I’m reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field using high quality tools and equipment. If you are working on modern cars then you have probably run into vehicles that utilize stretch belts. This kit assists in the removal and installation of these special belts. Kit comes in plastic organizing case, and the case uses a plastic pinned hinge which is much better than the plastic folding hinge. Nice kit to have in the tool box. Price point is considered reasonable for this item.

These are only needed with stretch belts.. So for those that do not know, here is basically what it is.. A stretch belt is a belt that looks like a serpentine belt in design.. When you put it on the pulley, or wheel, you have to kind of pry it on.. Once you start up the vehicle and it runs, it warms the belt up and it self adjusts to the right tension, which eliminates the need for a belt tensioner.. These are only on newer cars, starting within about the last 10 years.. These are also only on setups that have a max of 4 pulley’s at a time, and with no long runs of open space..Since these self tension when they get warm, they only do this once, so once you have to take it off for any reason, you cut the belt, and have to get a new one each time it has to be removed..The way that these work is like this.. You get the belt started on the pulley, then put one of these over the belt, and then tighten the screw down on the pulley wheel, which holds the belt in place, and then you just rotate the pulley all the way around until the belt is fully on the wheel.. Then simply untwist the screw that held it in place, and remove it, and you are good to go..you do not need to use one of these if you do not want to.. You can use some zip ties to hold the belt in place, and then once you twist the pulley around and the belt is on, just cut the zip ties off.. But using these is much easier then using the zip ties since you have to try and get the zip ties through the hole in the pulley wheel and pull it all the way around the outside to use them.. This just makes things much easier..Just remember.. If it looks like a serpentine belt, and has a tentioner, then it is a regular belt.. If it has no tentioner, then it is a stretch belt..
