I inherited an old vacuum pump that I have been using, but I’d say the thing is 35 years old. I am worried my pump will not work when I am in the middle of working on a vehicle. This looks like a great little set. I really like that a case was included. The case will be a nice think to have and good way to store this away when not in use. A few move pockets in the case would have been nice because all the little connectors end up sitting in the bottom. I will probably find a small plastic case I can store inside the soft case to keep the parts organized. I filled the pump with oil and tested the operation and the pump works well.

Pump: Works well. Pulls a nice vacuum. There was no leakage and there were 2 fittings on the pump, 1/4 flare and 3/8 flare. The vacuum it pulled was solid, and the pump (which is a rotary vane model) seems to be robust and quickly pulls a vacuum. (Look at the photo…) The only knock I have against the pump is that the manufacturer did not ship it with a bottle of oil. The description and pump say that it was not shipped with oil for shipping reasons. OK, that is reasonable. But it should have included a sealed bottle of oil. Oh well #1…The manifold gauge set worked well. It is a base model, and it does not have the dummy fittings on the side to hold the unused tubes. No big deal I guess since it is made for hobbyists/garage mechanics, so it won’t be subjected to a lot of dirty conditions. The fittings for the 134A are solid and they work well. I did not test the 410 adapter..The valved bottle tap was a bit of a conundrum to me. In the USA, we have self-sealing bottles that do not use the piercing pin. But this tap comes with a piercing pin which will make your bottle single-use. Or you can buy the adapter at the store to make your multiuse bottle compatible with the piercing pin version. Not sure why it shipped this way to the USA market. Oh well #2…Mine did not come with a red bag. Oh well #3…Overall this is a good buy with the above caveats… The picture also shows an example bottle of vacuum oil to purchase. You should not use hydraulic oil, as this may evaporate in the vacuum.
