I have a 2006 Toyota Land cruiser and the factory software required to reset the electronics and monitor the computers through the OBD2 connection. With this unit I can connect my laptop and use the Toyota software to manage and reset the computer codes on my 2006 car. Without it I would have to go to the dealer and spend the money for them to connect their laptop to do the same job. This connector is a money saver.

To clear something up front: This cable is not intended to be used to connect a car’s OBD2 port to a PC via USB. Those products absolutely exist, and I misread the listing, but this isn’t that. You’ll need a Male OBD2 cable for that.What this is, is a cable to connect OBD2 devices (GPS, etc) to a PC when not in the car. It helps support testing or diagnostics of OBD2 devices.With that in mind, this is a very well made cable, with solid OBD2 and USB ports, and effective strain relief at both ends. It’s made of good materials, and should last for quite some time as a result. The provision of wiring data is very helpful as well, as it should help isolate any issues related to pin configuration.Overall a great cable at an excellent price for what it is, but it could do with a better listing, as there is several pieces of language that might lead buyers to assume this cable is for something it’s not.

I ordered this cable as I had to pull some data from one of my vehicles, which I don’t do often. I didn’t see the need to spend $100+ on a cable, so I ordered this.Unfortunately, it came in a static proof bag but had nothing with it. I was hoping it might have potentially been shipped with atleast a link to the drivers needed, but that wasn’t the case.While it did work, in the long run, it took me days to get it running properly. There seems to be some sort of driver that isn’t picked up by windows 10 or windows 11 and even Android wouldn’t recommend it.If you’re like me and need to do something like capture specific data from your vehicle, you may be best spending some extra money on something a bit more reputable.
