This MRC transformer-speed controller replaces my old HO TYCO transformer. It’s awesome and much better than the old one. Ideal for ONE (maybe two) HO engine(s), the speed controller runs my steam locomotive at realistic slow-slower speeds with enough juice to get her up to full speed. Runs fast, but not too fast; it’s ideal for small RXR set-ups. Nice, large control dial for smooth operation, forward/reverse switch and an on / off power switch so that I don’t have to keep unplugging the unit. I love it!

I have to turn the power all the way to the right for the train to run. The product was purchased used, so it may be reaching its end of life cycle.

I had some 50 year old HO trains that I inherited and I wanted to see if they still worked. I did not want to invest a huge amount of money to do so. I bought a track layout and this controller and it all worked great. I used both the DC power for the trains and the ac accessory power for switching tracks. Everything worked great and it was simple to use. My five year old granddaughter had no problem learning how to switch it on, run the train and change directions.

This transformer works really nicely, you can get good creeping speed and even high speed out of it. I use it for my N scale layout, though what’s really weird is I can get the same performance out of my Bachmann dial transformer, I’d say the quality difference between the two is a rough tie. Maybe this one gives me better control…What I like most out of this controller is that you can switch it off, and you don’t have to unplug the darn thing. This device also has a short protector. Came in handy when I stupidly created a short on accident, and instead of damaging my loco, the transformer refused to operate until I fixed the short. -This product saved my $160 loco from my own stupidity!

This is my second 1300. I purchased the first a few days ago from a LHS. I was that impressed with the increased control over my ho loco, that I wanted to replace the unit that came with my n scale. For me, it’s the amount of low speed control and ability that the pack has.. From a crawl to full throttle, it’s all very controlled.. The only thing, from what I’ve seen that has more speed steps is DCC, and I’m not ready for that yet..But for the price you pay for the transformer, it’s well worth it!The packaging kind of was terrible, like someone opened and looked at it, or sometimes lines.. But it seems to be functioning fine so far..

Very good basic controller. I used it to replace an old one (from 25 years ago) for an HO setup. I have only 1 locomotive, so this is plenty. It does a nice job with slow speeds (40 on the dial is great), and adjusts very smoothly. Love that it has an ON/OFF switch separate from the speed dial, so you’re sure the power is completely cut off. Very nice upgrade for any non-DCC setup!

We had a train set that our controller went out on it. We ordered this Model that worked perfectly with our train set and let us have hours of fun play time for Christmas trains. It was easy to install and worked right out of the box. No problem at all with this item. If you are looking for something that will hook up easy and works with no problems, this is the item for you.
