So I got these M640DFT lights after already having 3 of the M340DFTs. It only has 700 lumens but with 100,000 Candela, it is very bright and has near perfect throw. For home defense it will blind the bad guy and give you plenty of light to identify the threat. It will also be awesome for night time steel challenge events. The spill allows you to see way more around the hot spot than my older 1000 and 1500 lumen lights do. The newer “Pro” mounting system pretty much negates the need for any other mounts. You can mount the light to Rail or M-lock at any position you need to tuck the light in close to the weapon-system. The price seems steep but you really get what you pay for. I’ve used Sure Fire Products in my job since 1992, I have never had a sure fire product fail.

Blinding bright light that is as practical as they come. The controls are solid to prevent negligent discharge. The beam has a far reach with plenty of spill that makes it perfect for patrol rifle applications.

It’s small, light, durable, and comes with a quality mount. It owns the outdoors with incredible throw, and is somehow still great indoors with its more than adequate spill.

The positives are It’s a Surefire, it will melt eyeballs from 300 yards away, mounting options are perfect, and love the shrouded button. The negatives are PRICE. It’s expensive but it’s worth having a light that just plain performs its job without question.

Buy once, cry once. I tried the Olight first, against all advice. Olight is pure garbage. Their lights will spontaneously power themselves up in the middle of the night, or when you insert a magazine too briskly. SureFire is high quality all around! Very satisfied with the brightness and throw of this light. I can easily take 200yd shots in the dark now.

Received mine missing Mlok mount and the rechargeable battery. Color was also wrong, strange burnt bronze color rather than the surefire spec FDE I have in other models. Pictured is a genuine surefire DS SRO7 FDE tail cap for reference. Things seem off here, look elsewhere

This light has as expected a massive throw that impresses everyone that get to try it out.
