Okay so some said 30min install … well the 09’ f150 was alittle more tricky.First thing take the bolts off – a mustPry the gap largerWiggle the piss out of it to get it into position easier (top)The lower one … I took my oil filter off (had todo oil change anyways) to move the rad hose out of my way and used a drill with a pivotal attachment – saved a headache … once I had the lower shaft in position it’ was too difficult to pull down or wiggle into position so I went above with a 2 foot extension and tapped it with a hammer into the shaft .Overall I was fighting with the old rusty one yesterday and today I finished it in the hours time … definitely easy just … awkward and annoying. Part is similar to the old one .Pull the seat all the way forward and slide the seat belt through the lower end and clip it into the buckle – slide the seat back till there’s tension that the wheel doesn’t move .Make sure to have the wheel positioned that the bolt head is up the lower bolt should be facing forward – this will make the accessing easier (5.4lt motor)

So the part was a direct replacement for the Ford OEM part I removed. Installation is simple assuming you have the tools necessary, just Youtube a DIY install video. After installing I noticed, as many others have said, that the steering wheel is off center. Mine is as well, so thats the trade off for buying this as opposed to buying the Dorman part for $150+. To fix this alignment issue, just go get a wheel alignment for $80-$120.My original reason for replacing the part was that I had a ton of side to side play in my steering wheel. Now, its very responsive and has no play. I’m happy with the item, it took me 1hr to install as I forgot to pre-spread the female receiver to accept the male insert from the steering rack on either end. Just use a flat head and hammer it into the slit to get it to separate.

I bought this steering wheel column/ shaft to replace the one on my F150 2012. After I installed this shaft on my F150 the steering wheel was crooked so I took my pickup to the shop to get it re-aligned. The shop charged me $170.00 for the alignment and they fixed the crooked steering wheel BUT! there was a play on the steering wheel making my pickup truck unsafe to drive it specially on the highway. My pickup truck kept wondering from side to side because of this play on the steering wheel. I ended up installing the old shaft back on my pickup so I had to take it to the shop to get the steering wheel aligned again. This shaft seems to have the joints missed aligned and the U-joint bearings are not tight enough so you get a play on the steering wheel. The shop charged me $170.00 again. Now, I am down over $300.00 because of this F@#$$$#%% shaft.

Being an owner of a 2012 F-150, I was well aware the days on my intermediate steering shaft were numbered. Sure enough a couple weeks ago I was having binding every 1/4 turn. I ordered this one to replace it, and was rather concerned reading some reviews. I figured I’d give it a shot since loose steering is still better than binding steering.Removal of the old shaft is straight forward. Start with the top first. This is a 14mm. The lower 10mm bolt is awkward due to how far down it sits. I used a mix of transmission fluid and acetone as penetrating oil, but you can use most commercially available sprays such as PB Blaster. Get yourself a screwdriver you don’t mind sacrificing, and wedge it in the slot after removing the bolt and twist / pry. Give the old shift a few wiggles turning it back and forth and eventually it’ll come off. There isn’t much room for a pry bar. Clean up the steering gearbox shaft / steering wheel shaft with a Scotch Brite pad. Install the new shaft, putting the bottom in first.Do NOT use the bolts / lock washers that come with this. Save your old ones and clean them up with a wire brush or Scotch Brite pad. Apply medium (blue) threadlocker and install. When I first installed I snugged up the bolts and gave it a try. I noticed the looseness many people described. I figured I’d tighten down the bolts further, and that did the trick. Steering is firm and responsive like it was before.Time will tell how long this will last, but ultimately for the price if I get a year I’ll be more than happy.

I was quoted over $350 from the local parts shop for one of these linkages. So I found this on Amazon and I was skeptical but bought it anyway. It came on time it was a solid well made part. I now could have my local mechanic install it and still be under the ridiculous price from part store!Ya steering wheel of center about 4,5 degrees but I’m ok with that, now I don’t have Armstrong steering 😀

Exact fit and looks good( Black one) and I give it 4 instead of 5 Stars because I wanna know how long will last. But is great fit and test drive my truck and truck feels great again.

I took my 2012 F150 Platinum in for an alignment. When I got it back it was hard to steer, it felt like the power steering pump was going out, but this truck has electric assist steering. My mechanic and Ford both said it was the rack and pinion, probably based off the mileage since it had 345,000 miles on it at the time. The rack and pinion alone is $1300 refurbished. Then I decided to YouTube some videos and this part kept coming up as the likely source. So I bought this one, it took about thirty minutes to install. Presto, problem solved. Great part, shipped as promised. Highly recommended.

I bought this part for my F150, tried it for a month, and just got done replacing it with the Ford OEM part. I missed the 30 day return, because I was out of town (bummer – out $50). If you want sloppy steering and a misaligned steering wheel and are low on cash…buy this. If you want your vehicle to steer properly, buy the Ford OEM part (which is also on Amazon at around $200-$225). I do not recommend this product at all. In my opinion, it is also a safety issue.

Steering shaft seems very similar quality as factory shaft. Install went great. My Steering wheel is in the correct orientation after install and almost no slop (maybe I got real lucky) I will update if any issue comes up.
