You may have these doubts:
What are the little white washers for?
These white washers go between the toilet bowl and the silver washer in order to not crack the bowl. Don’t over tighten.
What is the trick to install the kit to ensure the ball valve holds water in the bowl?
The ball has to be clean and smooth and the seal has to be seated flush, check the shaft to make sure it is sealed properly,
also while you have it apart change the o rings on the shaft. Or ssk that question on you tube and they will show you a step by step video, it was easy after that .

I have a Thetford Style II toilet which needs the ball and base seal in the 34120 kit. I made the mistake of not ordering it from Thetford but ordered the Bestotal since it would save me a few bucks. BIG mistake. The ball seal installed and was the correct size but when I went to install the base seal I noticed it was significantly smaller than the one installed so I could not install it without having a leak in a place you do not want a leak. I still needed to fix the problem so I did what I should have done in the beginning — order the part from the vendor and forget trying to save a few bucks. Instead I am out the nearly $12 charged for this product which does not fit. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

The waste ball replacement worked well

My Style II Thetford toilet listed the 42141 seal but this is apparently discontinued. This seal replaces it, is identical in size, and works fine! Be sure to put lots of silicone lube on the seal when installing. Literally a fifteen minute job to install … the bowl now holds water.

Bowl seal is great but Someone warned me the closet flange seal was too hard to compress. I was doing a total rebuild of the floor & they were right! I even had my (very healthy) neighbor come & sit on it while I tried to tighten it & just could not get it to compress. I had a back up & really bought it for the bowl seal which worked great!

I only replaced the ball valve rubber seal. The base seal was not leaking so saying the new one for when it does. They can both be replaced independently.
