Using the Poly Welder Pro Kit, you can create permanent repairs to almost anything made of polyethylene. Welding ribbon can be used for repairing cracks, holes, gouges, dents, and other damage to polyethylene plastics. I used this kit to repair a small hole in my Wilderness Pungo kayak. After watching a video on uTube, I decided it would be best to go ahead and use the stainless steel mesh for reinforcement since the hole was actually on the end of the kayak that gets dragged on occasion. I was a bit nervous about ‘melting’ the kayak while adhering the mesh, but after I got over the initial fear of ruining my boat it was actually kind of fun. I put several layers of the poly on top of the mesh and I think it’s better than new. I still have to sand off some of the rough spots, but I am very pleased with the result. I’ve now got a reinforced back end on my kayak and it’s once again water-tight. At first I thought $129 was a pretty high price, but it’s so much cheaper than buying a $900 kayak replacement! I’m totally happy. Great product.

This tool worked well. The heating tip was secure and easy to work with. The plastic fill material is AWSOME. bonded and blended well with my hobie kayak.

I’m writing this for my husband. I heard his reaction after using this to fix a hole in our septic tank. He had the hole piece that had been previously cut out. It worked great and they welded the piece back on, repairing the hole. My son, who’s a metal welder and helped with the repair, thought it was ingenious!

I bought this to fix my polyethylene kayak. It worked really well for the first time using it. But I just went to use it again and it doesn’t work anymore. For the price I paid for this, I would have expected it to last a little longer than just one use. Maybe I got a defective one.I would give it only 1 star but the filler rods it comes with as well as the stainless steel mesh are actually really nice. But Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this plastic welder.
