NICHE PISTON
An ATV piston is a component of engines, pumps, and gas compressors. It is located in a cylinder and is made gas-tight by piston rings. In an engine, its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft through a piston rod and or connecting rod
Piston Anatomy
A piston is a cylindrical engine component that slides back and forth in the cylinder bore by forces produced during the combustion process. The piston acts as a movable end of the combustion chamber. The stationary end of the combustion chamber is the cylinder head.
Piston Components
ATV Piston components include the piston head, piston pin bore, piston pin, skirt, ring grooves, ring lands, and piston rings. The piston head is the top surface of the piston which is subjected to tremendous forces and heat during normal engine operation
NICHE GASKET
A gasket is a mechanical seal which fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression.
Some Types of Gaskets:
- Head gaskets create a seal between the engine block and cylinder head. This seal establishes a proper compression and prevents fluid leaks into the cylinders
- Base gaskets create a seal between the top-end of your engine and the engine cases. Stop pesky engine oil leaks before they cause permanent damage to your engine.
- The valve cover is sealed to the upper section of the engine cylinder head by a valve cover gasket. As it passes around the camshafts, rockers, and valves, the gasket stops engine oil from seeping out.

I was a little skeptical of ordering this kit after watching some videos online and reading some other reviews but I could not resist the price and bought it anyway. I checked the cylinder height and it was correct and didn’t require any machining, I used all the parts and the kit including the paper gasket on the bottom of the cylinder and the O-ring was the correct size. I was very impressed with the piston rings as the second compression ring is actually a oil scraper to prevent burning oil. The stock piston comes with two standard compression rings which have failed on my bike and was smoking like a freight train. I install this kit with no problems at all and has been working perfectly would definitely recommend to a friend and buying again

I bought this cylinder, it was fine but I had a problem with antifreeze leaking through the middle of the cylinder and the head, how can I repair it?

Head gasket blew, coolant got to piston and hydrolock engine

Piston, rings, and spark plug all great stuff. Head gasket garbage. Order this kit and a better gasket and you will be just fine. Update turns out the jug case is not true level with the sleeve I have put a request in with the seller to see if they will rectify this. I will keep you posted

Purchased product to replace my cylinder on my Yamaha 660. After unboxing and inspection noticed pitting inside cylinder unknown cause appears to be defect from casting but I cannot tell. I purchased separately a clymer manual that tells me to install dowels on the piston housing now I may have to source these additional parts else where. May be why so many are having head gasket issues without the dowels the gasket will not be held in place. Quality of these parts is average in my opinion.

If I could turn back the hands of time I would. The cylinder will move on you. Its not decked flat and it’s not worth it for the price
