Got my mityvac working great again. Didn’t include the orings for the tip but otherwise I’d give it 5 stars. Glad it includes the plastic knob for switching modes.

My new mantra is “Whenever you buy anything that can be rebuilt, buy the rebuild kit up front.”Buying the rebuilt kit right now means getting it for a better price than it will cost in the future, IF it’s even still available in the future when you need it.I just bought the metal version of the Mityvac pump, plus this rebuild kit. A lifetime tool and then some!

Now I did have to add a spring to my mighty vac. That is because this kit is for newer versions of the original unit. I have one thirty years old. So all the parts fit. Just needed a spring to put pressure opening it to hold the pin in the handle in place. No biggy. Saved me from buying a newer unit which I do not believe is as well made as my original one!!!

If your pump does not draw or hold vacuum or pressure anymore, this is the rebuild kit you need (for newer Mityvac metal body pumps). What usually happens is the user has drawn in either brake fluid or an oil and one or more seals have swollen and then failed. Very easy to do with only a few tools and two fluids:Needle nose pliersCouple of very small flat head screwdrivers for carefully prying partsPhillips #1 and #2 screwdriversSilicone based lubricant (nothing petroleum based!) I use Sil-Glyde.Brake parts cleaner sprayJust follow the instructions, very easy to do with basic mechanical aptitude.I will warn you- it doesn’t explicitly say this for every part, but clean the inner housings with brake cleaner and wipe out with a rag before reassembly, especially if you had brake fluid or other contaminants drawn into pump which caused seal failure. This will ensure your new O rings don’t fail prematurely. All in all, a great kit for the price

Needed some parts for a rebuild of my mityvac 8500 and this was the exact parts kit I needed. Great quality parts, OE materials, and easy to follow instructions

I have an older (original) Mityvac. Probably from the 1980s. And although the design has changed. All the seals fit and function in my vintage mityvac. There are also very good instructions included with the kit.I recommend this kit if you are interested in rebuilding you old mityvac
