With old coils, I could pull off one plug wire at a time (engine would continue to run) and the spark would arc from the now-exposed coil electrode to the case. Clearly, there was an insulation/case defect. Arc to grounded screwdriver might achieve 3/4″. The truly blown coil had one electrode that could manage only an anemic 3/8″ max. These new coils do not arc to their case. Instead, the spark travels all the way down the plastic electrode insulation to the grounded mounting screw. Impressive! My Trooper runs great now. :))
