One of several items on the GM Service Bulletin 040604003 to eliminate fuel “burp” from filler neck. GM should have paid for this, but since they didn’t, I bought and installed it myself. I did not install any other parts from that bulletin, and my gasoline “burp” problems are HISTORY.My ’03 Trailblazer would belch gasoline from the filler sometimes. This is apparently related to the gas station equipment, since it never did it at my usual gas station, but often did when I was out-of-town traveling.I installed this hose with the included clamp–although I moved the attached clamp on the hose so it is easier to put a socket on for tightening. I re-used the original clamp on the smaller end of the hose. It attached easily to my existing gas tank and fill tube. There is a cutout on the hose that aligns with a molded tab on the gas tank nipple, so the hose can only go on one way. This is important so that the flapper valve built into this hose shuts properly. The fact that the original hose which did NOT have a flapper valve, and the gas tank nipple also had the notch and tab tells me that GM knew the flapper valve was required, but eliminated it to save a few cents. The original hose would not have to be aligned since there’s no flapper valve.

For those who have the dreaded gas pump shut-off issue: This will cure it. After many tanks of fuel and many minutes wasted throttling the pump i had enough. I researched and found the solution. The spring loaded vent on the tank side of the house would stick and cause back pressure on the gas pump causing it to kick-off. I removed the stock hose, which had delaminated inside and replaced it with this one. This replacement house has a flap inside, so i removed the spring loaded stopper (read.. knocked the old spring type out of the plastic filler neck on the tank). No issues at the pump and i can put all 22 gallons in without it kicking off until the end. Great product

This product can provide an easy resolution to two fueling issues associated with pre-2007 Jeep TJ vehicles: difficulty filling with fuel, and burping while filling (fuel splashes out after filling). The difficulties are caused by the plastic Jeep used to make the anti back-flow valve in the fuel tank. The anti back-flow valve allows fuel to flow into the fuel tank, but then seals it in there. The problem arises because of the higher concentration of ethanol in gasoline mandated by federal authorities. The higher concentration of ethanol causes the specific plastic used to make the anti back-flow valve to swell. This means that the properly designed and engineered valve stops functioning smoothly. When the plastic swells enough, it freezes the valve in a specific position. If the valve is frozen close to the closed position it will impede the flow of fuel into the tank during fill ups. If it freezes into the open position then it can’t stop fuel from “burping” back up the filler tube when the filler nozzle shuts off, and the result is that fuel spills out.The proper fix for these problems is to remove the fuel tank, open an access hatch and remove the valve, then use sandpaper or another means to grind material away from the valve so it can once again flow smoothly. But how many of us want to to that laborious an possibly dangerous repair?In steps this particular product. This diameters of this section of filler hose fits onto the jeep fuel tank and inlet tube, but the length of this filler hose may need to be trimmed to fit properly (the amount of trimming necessary may depend on if your particular jeep has a body lift). This section of hose has an anti back-flow valve built in. This can fix the problem as follows:1) If your jeep suffers fuel burping (spilling upon fill up) then simply install this hose and the built in anti back -flow valve will do the job the swollen OEM anti back-flow valve no longer can do.2) If your problem is difficulty filling, remove the OEM filler tube and insert a rod into the fuel tank where the fuller tube was connected. Push the rod down until you feel some resistance. The resistance is the OEM anti back-flow valve. Push the rod in until it can’t go further. Viola: you have now moved the anti back-flow valve from being frozen in the closed position to being frozen in the open position. Install the new filler tube with the built in anti-back-flow valve and you are good to go.In the later case, there is some possibility the OEM anti back-flow valve could move back to the closed position with vibration. In that case you can simply remove the filler hose from the tank and repeat the steps to open the OEM valve. Or, if you are very lucky, you could snake a piece of plastic tubing down the fuel filler hose in hopes of reopening the OEM anti back-flow valve without having the crawl under and remove the filler tube from the tank.Please be advised that gasoline is flammable and gasoline vapor is explosive. I’d probably give it a 5, but it’s a hose (right?). I bought this to put on my ‘05 Jeep Wrangler TJ to replace the crappy one from the factory that burps gasoline out everytime I fill up my tank. Plenty of YouTube videos to tell you how it’s done. It was easy with minimal tools. Took me about an hour and a half only because I didn’t cut enough off each end to fit so I installed, removed, re-installed, etc… a few times until the fit was perfect and didn’t kink itself during installation.

Like others, I used this part to fix the issue with the gas overflowing in my 06 Jeep Wrangler. As I have a body lift, i did not need to cut or modify the hose in any way. I am happy to report this has solved my issue with the overflow problem. I highly recommend this to other TJ owners.

I used the valve inside this hose to fix a gas spill problem that occurred on my Jeep. Jeep would fix it for free, but you have to pay a diagnose fee, and it involves at least 2 round trips to the stealership. With the valve in this hose, I was able to fix the problem I was having in less than 30 minutes.

Purchased as per Jeep forums to fix gasoline back splash/overfill problem on my ’05 Jeep Wrangler. Removed plastic valve inside the GM hose and inserted it into my Jeep fuel hose. Problem solved, no more overfill. A real disappointment that Chrysler didn’t do this at the factory. It’s a potentially dangerous fire hazard, and potentially a health hazard when gas soaks your leg and shoes.

2003 chevy trailblazer. Original hose doesn’thave the valve inside. Changed this due to TSB about a problem with gas overflowing at full up. Fit and quality is great, but it doesn’t fix the issue I changed it for. Still trying to decide if I need to replace the whole filler assembly.
