This item worked great. It fit perfect and was very easy to install. I would suggest that you order a few door panel clips at the same time because at least a couple will break when you pop the door panel off and they are not that easy to find at the auto parts store. The dealer will charge you $5 each and you can get almost a dozen from amazon for that price. There are plenty of instructions out there for replacing this item. My best advice is that you do NOT need to remove the glass from the vehicle for the back doors on the 2001-2004 Jeeps. Also, the clips that hold the window in do not need to be removed when installing the new regulator, just fit into position and push. You’s notice it is not exactly like the regulator you removed and there are some bolts/nuts where there where once screws; don’t let that throw you off, it still fits. This is the second one (first one was on the passenger side, rear) that I put in.I did have one major issue. The window operated backwards after I installed it. That is to say, up was down and down was up, on the controls. One other reviewer had the same problem and I commented with the following advice:”I fixed it myself. The two wires that plug into the wiring harness need to be reversed. The male assembly that that comes off of the motor of the new regulator has a black fitting. If you look inside this fitting there are two prongs. on the other end there are two wires; Green and white. There is a light blue rubber piece that holds them into the fitting and a black cap that covers the rubber piece. Pop off the cap and pry the blue rubber piece out with your fingers, this is very easy to do, but you may need to peel back the black plastic that covers the green and white wires a little bit. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, grasp one of the prongs and push it backwards into the fitting; you will feel it pop out of the holder. Do the same to the other prong. Now carefully slide off the fitting while holding the wires in your hand. Take note of what part of the fitting is on top and what the wires look like when you expose them. Slide the blues rubber off the wires along with the black cap. You want to make sure you have the wires positioned correctly when you are ready to put everything back together. Keeping the wires in the same orientation, reverse their positions and reassemble.”

As you know, the window regulators on 2001-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees are a problem and need to be peroidically replaced due to breaking. I paid my Jeep dealer over $400 each for the front two doors and a local window shop wanted over $300 to replace the right rear door. I checked my local auto parts stores and they all had the Dorman brand of replacement regulators. I checked on Amazon and found the identical regulator for about half the price. I decided to tackle the job and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to complete. Part works fine. I will certainly do the job myself in the future. There were no instructions included with the part, but there are videos and written instructions on line. If you are at all mechanically inclined, you should be able to change this regulator. My total cost, including purchasing a package of door clips was less then $75.

Purchased this to fix the girlfriend’s Jeep window motor that had gone down and failed to go back up. Amazon by far has the best price on this, which was half of what the local chain stores wanted.I was hesitant to try this out because my last encounter with a window motor left me needing an angle grinder to cut some things loose. However, there are several YouTube videos out there showing how to do this install. They make it look so easy. Well let me say that it really is that easy. You take the door panel off with some small screw drivers or a trim clip tool. (it would be a good idea to order a pack of the yellow clips they also sell on amazon because you will break a couple. they get brittle with age) After the door panel comes off you remove the speaker and rubber weather seal. the window motor bolts are all exposed and you just loosen them all right up. Upon undoing all the screws, move the assembly around until the window is low enough to undo the clips holding it to the assembly. (it helps to have a helper for 5 minutes) once undone, you tape the window in the up position and slide the old assembly out. A quick checlk reveals that you reuse a couple of the old bolts. After sliding the new regulator in place, hook up the window, and then you start threading all the bolts in place. Make sure everything lines up and then tighten down the bolts. hook all your wires back up and reinstall the door panel. total time from start to finish with a small socket set for me, two screwdrivers, and a cordless drill with socket adapter too one hour. (in a drizzle)The new motor works perfect and based on what i was told the shop charged for the previous doors being done, I saved her about three hundred bucks. not bad for a DIY part and an hour labor.

I’ve been a professional auto mechanic for twenty years. In that time I’ve replaced a LOT of Jeep power windows regulators. I don’t know what exactly causes them to fail at such a high rate but they are extremely common to need replacement. This is a good quality aftermarket replacement part. Dorman is a reputable company with a good reputation. This is the EXACT same product that several of the national chain auto parts stores sell with their name stuck onto the package but for a lot more money. I was able to buy this cheaper through Amazon that I could buy it through our local parts suppliers for. I am a professional and have replaced these before but I still found it to be very easy and had it done in around 30 minutes. Good product at a good price.

This was the exact part that was lined up for the ’02 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ rear driver side window. Be sure to remove the speaker from the door and get extra panel clips
