I thought it would be rubbery, but its plastic- no complaints. It does have a collar that you can slip behind the carpet to “lock” it in place.

Hard plastic, cheap garbage.If you are looking for soft rubber type look for metro molded parts. Would not buy again. Ordered another from a different manufacturer and threw this one in the garbage.

I am restoring a 68 mustang. The previous owner had installed new carpet and just slit the place for the dimmer switch, leaving it looking unfinish and cheap. This is a sturdy, well made piece that cleaned up the installation! Don’t hesitate if you are lookin into it…it is a good one!
