This Alemite 555-E pistol grip grease gun, which comes with a flexible extension, has a cylinder capacity of 16 oz., and delivers lubricant at pressures up to 7,500 pounds per square inch (psi) at a rate of 1 oz. per 30 strokes in high-volume mode. A dual mode, pistol grip lever mechanism makes it possible to choose either high-volume output or high-pressure delivery. This grease gun loads grease either by bulk loading or inserting a grease cartridge. The follower has a heavy-duty spring to keep the grease gun primed, and a bleeder valve keeps the grease gun from building up excessive pressure in the cylinder. This grease gun injects grease into standard grease fittings and is suitable for applications such as lubricating motor vehicles, construction and industrial equipment, and aeronautics.

Oil and grease guns are handheld tools that inject lubricant (dispensed from the barrel or cylinder cartridge) into metal mechanical assemblies. Electric and air-powered grease guns can dispense large volumes of lubricant in commercial applications, while battery-powered (cordless) grease guns are more suitable for mobile and remote applications. Manual grease guns (lever, pistol-grip, screw-type, push-type, and suction) vary in duty and have either a rigid or flexible hose extension for attaching nozzles or a nozzle with coupler for standard grease fittings. Oil and grease guns are used in a broad variety of applications including vehicles of all types, construction equipment, factory and agricultural machinery, and aeronautics, among others.

Alemite manufactures lubrication and fluid handling systems and components. The company, founded in 1918, is headquartered in Fort Mill, SC.

Works good. Have had some air locks but usually just give a couple of pumps and they work through or use the bleed valve on top

I’ve used an Alemite lever-action for many years (made in USA stamped on the barrel). Best quality and easy cartridge replacement.I wanted a full-size pistol grip gun and bought the $33 Carbyne ‘Heavy Duty’ gun. What a mess. The flimsy rubber piston seal came off the piston with the first tube of greased used and most of the tube oozed past the piston and around the spring. You can see my review of the Carbyne here— https://www.amazon.com/gp/review/R3J8BCFVG8G9TZ?ref_=glimp_1rv_clThe review has 3 photos that show the Carbyne catastrophe.I then bought the Alemite pistol grip gun. The piston seal is about 3 times thicker and heavier than the Carbyne. The dual leverage, volume or pressure mode is useful. The photo shows 3 squirts. The top black strip is from the old Alemite lever-action.The middle red squirt is from the Alemite pistol-grip on the volume setting. Quantity looks to be 80 or 90 percent of the lever-action. A strong hand is required. The bottom red squirt is from the Alemite pistol-grip on the pressure setting. Quantity looks like about 5 squirts are required to equal the volume setting. Easy squeezin’ on the pressure setting.Yeah, the Alemite pistol grip is made in China. I don’t see any dimunition of quality from the made-in-USA Alemite.

I’m a retired engineer that has lived on a hobby farm for over 30 years. Greasing tractors and implements are a part of life. I’ve been buying the low-bid junk grease guns that auto parts and farm supply stores stock and have bought too many of them since they don’t last more than a couple of years. So I asked on an internet forum “what is a really good grease gun?” and this was what was recommended. It cost a lot more than the cheap, disposable junk I was using and is worth every penny and then some. The selectable “volume” or “pressure” toggle is really handy for filling a new bearing chamber with the initial fill of grease, or pushing grease into a stubborn Zerk fitting that doesn’t want to flow. The spring-loaded rubber plunger that pushes grease up to the pump head doesn’t leak grease around the seal (which means you’ll throw away what’s left of a perfectly good tube of grease), and the pistol-grip pump makes short work of lubing since I didn’t get that third hand none of us were born with.Buy the Lock ‘n’ Lube adapter from another vendor on Amazon and put it on the end of the hose. It has a depressable thumb lever to lock and unlock the adapter onto the grease fitting. If the Zerk fitting is so clogged that it just just won’t budge, it will not hydro-lock the adapter on to the stuck grease fitting. It was about $30 and has prevented the bellowing of thousands of cuss words. The Alemite gun with the Lock ‘n’ Lube adapter makes for the perfect combination and the neighbors will think you’re Superman.

Been working around farms for years and have had lots of experience with this grease gun. They really are the only gun worth owning. he pressure function is great for those stubborn zerks. Doesn’t always work though so be careful taking the hose off failed attempts. It is long lasting and feels good while in use. When I needed a new grease gun this was the obvious choice. Look locally for it, Usually TSC has them at very similiar prices to those here. The only reason I bought it on Amazon is due to Covid reasons.

We needed a quality grease gun to lubricate the zerks on our Toyota lift truck. I coupled this one with the LocknLube grease coupler for ease of one use, and a Lincoln right angle slotted 90 degree coupler to access a few zerks on our truck in a really tight location. I couldn’t be more pleased with the Alemite 555-E. It is easy to bleed the air when installing the gease cartridge. For most of the zerks on our lift truck, the high flow mode was sufficient. But, the high pressure/low flow mode, came in real handy on a few zerks that were “plugged”. I have never used a grease gun before with this feature. The dual mode feature alone is enough of a reason to buy this gun. Time will tell how long it lasts. My first impression is that it is a good quality grease gun and worth the extra few $ to buy it.

As a industrial mechanic and later supervisor I always purchased these for my departments. Lately they have been made in China, but this one for home use was assembled in USA with foreign and domestic parts.Better than nothing I suppose. It functions as well as expected for a couple of zerks on my new tie rods. This is a good industrial grade grease gun.

I had purchased a grease gun from princess auto and fought with it forever to prime or work at all. Just buy this grease gun! Primed immediately and works perfectly!

I took it out of the box, loaded a tube of grease that refused to work in my old grease gun (leaking grease) and it worked the first time. No leaks or mess at all. No problem getting the grease gun primed or anything. Can’t ask for better than that.

I bought my previous grease gun from AutoZone, and it lasted two cartridges before it started leaking like crazy. The Alemite 555-E cast alloy handle is comfortable to hold and hasn’t dripped since I’ve had it.

This gun uses the whole tube of grease without wasting any by leaving it in the tube. Best grease gun I have ever had and I have had quite a few. Great pressure.

These are the gold-standard of grease guns. This will be my third one from Alemite, and I’ve owned them all.
