The five stars is not for how easy it is to put in. Installation is kind of a pain, but that’s not the fault of the part. Check out the videos on YouTube and think carefully whether you are up to it before purchase. It took me about 2 hours after watching the videos a couple times and referring back to it a few times. I suspect it takes a Subaru mechanic a bit of time too, but they probably do it in less than an hour. I would probably let Subaru do it if this was a newer car, but I don’t want to spend the money on an old car. At that same time, I need to be able to roll my driver’s side window up and down reliably.

This was a perfect fit for my 2004 Subaru Forester. Subaru regulators are difficult to install, so I had it installed at the Subaru dealer. The person at the service desk was ok with them installing an after market part, especially when she compared it to the “Genuine Subaru” part that was MUCH more expensive. So far, it works great. No complaints

It was the same size and function of the factory window module, for less cost. Window had smooth and quiet operation after installation.Take a look for U-tube vids that show disconnecting the window from the module first, and then moving/holding the glass in the ‘up’ position while you remove the module from the bottom access hole. Duct tape works fine for this temporary step.

Good value. My window works! Thanks.

All in all this window regulator is great value and I would recommend it to others. As others have noted in reviews – the roller that inserts into a track/slide on the car is just a bit too large. For me it did insert into the slide but it was very tight – to the point of squeegee-ing the grease out of it. I feared this would cause problems once installed. As others suggested I simply expanded the tracks open a bit and the roller moved through the track nicely. I found the easiest way to bend/expand the track was using 2 adjustable wrenches, on on each side of track and pray both wrenches apart. For me the wire from the drive motor to the factory connection was about 1″ too short. This was not a huge problem – I un-clipped the factory connection which provided 3″ of wire/movement, then zip-tied the wire in place.Given the roller/track and short wire issue I am giving it a 4/5 stars.

Fits perfectly. At first, I was worried because I had read somewhere that it didn’t fit but to my surprise, it took 30 minutes to replace the whole thing without any problems.

Initially it seemed like this would be hard to install. Find a good YouTube video and watch it through before you start. Go back to the beginning and follow instructions to start your install. My window works flawlesly now.

Motor wire is too short and needs to be rerouted before installation. I needed to remove the regulator again after installing it because the motor connector could not be plugged into the wire harness. Upon inspection of the motor wiring, it looked nothing like the factory motor wiring that I removed. After rerouting the wire and re-installing the regulator, the wire was still too short to attach to the original wiring harness. I zip tied the wire to the harness because it was too short to be re-installed correctly. I have concerns about the strain on the motor wire that it may fail after some use.
