I’ve used this pink removal tool on mini splits and heat pumps and it does what it’s supposed to for the price. The seals are solid enough and it will hold down to about 50 microns in my testing, which is acceptable for basic jobs and for someone learning the trade. At roughly thirty dollars it is a reasonable backup or starter tool.The finish and fit are where you see the cost difference. The knurling is very aggressive and chunky, which gives good grip but can cause abrasions in tight spaces. The brass cap on the main body is not rounded and has sharp hex edges that can scrape when working in cramped panels. The stem action catches and isn’t as smooth compared with pro tools, and the core tip is shallower so you cannot narrow or widen the grip on cores as precisely. The magnet is smaller and weaker than the bigger brands, so stems are more likely to fall out when you set the tool down and is also more difficult to get it to stay on a vertical surface.The 1/4 inch ports are machined with a beveled flare edge rather than a smooth rounded seat. It still works but o rings do not seat as nicely, so you will need to tighten connections more or use Nylog blue thread sealant. I use Nylog on tool fittings anyway to avoid chasing small leaks and it speeds up the job.If you need a professional level of repeatable performance, smoother action, stronger magnet retention and better o ring seating, spend the extra and get the Appion. If you are starting out, building a spare set, or just need something that works without breaking the bank, this pink tool will get you by. Three stars because it is functional for the money but not finished or refined enough for daily pro use.

I am not a pro. I am a do it myself amateur that balks at the prices the pros charge. I have installed 6 mini-split systems by myself and collected the needed tools along the way. For my use case this is a perfectly functional tool. For things like flaring tools I bought the premium Yellow Jacket eccentric flaring tool for R410a lines. For an occasional install I have not found a need for a high end expensive valve remover. If you aren’t in a rush to do a line evacuation you don’t even need a valve remover it is just slower and you have to run the pump longer. I have also done dry nitrogen pressure tests without a valve remover.If you are a pro and do this every day read the reviews from other pros and buy a tool that will last years in daily use. IF you are doing your own install this valve remover works fine and and there are other places to better spend money (buy a good eccentric flaring tool).

It Works.These are Drako-Myxx Upgrade Vacuum-Rated Valve Core Removal Tool,2 Sizes 1/4inch and 5/16inch in 1 Tool,Mega Flow Vacuum-Rated Core Removal Tool,20 Microns Vacuum,Dual Head Valve Core Remover,For A2L Refrigerant, with Magnetic cap.It worked for me. I’ve never used the more expensive ones but this one worked for my installation. I used only once so can’t say much about duribility but vlave core removed without any issue.
