Insert the recovery hook tail into the 2″ trailer hitch receiver tube.

Unlock the hitch lock by inserting the key and turning it clockwise.

Adjust to the desired length, align with a hole, and insert the locking pin.

Press the lock core until flush, then cover with the protective cap.

Place the hitch tightener over the edge of the hook and tighten the bolt.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this recovery hook/hitch hook. It looks really good on my truck, it’s heavy and overbuilt, and I’m confident that it’ll stand up to quite a bit of abuse. It’s solid steel, and it’s very robust. My one complaint is that it’s a very sloppy fit in a 2″ receiver… it’ll rattle around a lot. To overcome this, a hitch tightener is included to firm up the hook and prevent rattling… but this makes it a bit more of a chore to swap this hook out for my traditional trailer hitches (Now I need a wrench to loosen the nuts on the tightener). I think this would be a 5 star product if it were a better fit for the receiver, and didn’t need the tightener clamp, but as it is it’s still 4 stars, because it looks awesome and is built like a tank. The included hitch pin lock is a great bonus, and will help to keep a thief from helping himself to your awesome (and expensive) hitch hook.I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again – but I’d like to see the receiver fitment improved at this price point.Recommended.

This hook looks good on the truck and serves the purpose of an attachment point for a recovery strap. The spring loaded safety latch works at keeping the strap on the hook. It comes with everything you need to secure the hitch to your truck to help prevent it from theft. The finish is durable and is easy to maintain.

This thing is an absolute beast! Extremely solid. Manufacturing quality is great. I’ve used it a couple of times for light pulls with no issues, haven’t had an opportunity to test it hard

Beefy tow hitch hook from AMBULL, made of drop-forged steel. Feels strong, likely to outlast most hitch receivers, with a claimed 88,000-pound break strength. The hook design saves time, letting you slip a tow strap on easily with a secure latch closure. No D-rings needed.Powder coat finish holds up well, passing a scratch test, and seems to resist rust.A bit pricey, but part of the appeal is the scorpion tail look – a vanity item. Still, a functional choice for off-road recovery or frequent tow-strap pulling.

Very strong and heavy hook. Fit my 2″ receiver perfectly and so far I have pulled numerous dead semi tractors through the shop with it.

I love my little “scorpion tail” (my description). If you need or want to swap between this and a normal ball hitch, this, if fully installed (with the anti-vibration dohickey thing), will be time consuming, so just forgo the extra bolted attachment thing. I’m not planning to pull anything, so I’m good to go with it attached.
