3M Super Duty Rubbing Compound 05954 is an aggressive compound that helps eliminate fine sand scratches and oxidation on automotive and industrial paint and gelcoat finishes. This heavy-cutting compound quickly and easily helps to remove imperfections by remaining wet longer and maintaining a high cut rate with medium pressure. This compound buffs P1000 and finer grade sand scratches on a variety of automotive and industrial paints and gelcoats. This body shop-safe compound contains no waxes or silicones and is easy to apply with little to no mess. For best results, follow with polishes and waxes to protect the finish. A professional shop did some bodywork and they got overspray in a few areas that wasn’t noticed until later. I tried everything to remove the overspray including 3000 grit wet sanding which did work but would rather not. This stuff and a little elbow grease did the trick.

Car was parked for days at a time in the same spot and a film of dirt from soot, gardening and trees built up and dried flat on the car paint, seemingly eating away at the paint. The gooey liquid wiped it right off and left a shine. The carwash would likely have been inadequate on its own. So this occasional step is necessary. Then I wiped on an expensive wax I had also purchased here, at Amazon, and the resulting shine was amazing. For the next few weeks just a quick rain was enough to clear away soot build-up. Small bucket of water and microweaved cloth sponge was all that was needed. And rubber gloves, also. Easy to apply and excellent value in a large easy-to-store container. Scratches needed to be sanded but then also spray on a little clearcoat if you sand.

Always using 3m products and it never fails me. As a do it yourself guy I am able to manage to remove all swirls and scratches with this compound. Even by hand it will remove all the impurities from the car paint.
